Gillian Ayres

Paintings And Monoprints

The Alan Cristea Gallery will present a major exhibition of new paintings and works on paper by Gillian Ayres. This is Ayres's first exhibition since the devastating fire at Momart art storage facilities several months ago destroyed eighteen of her paintings; ten belonging to novelist Shirley Conran and eight to the artist herself.

The exhibition will coincide with a show at Nevill Keating Tollemache, London, which will feature paintings by Ayres made from 1980onwards and a new series of acrylic on paper. Together these exhibitions will cover the last twenty-five years of Ayres' practice.

The exhibition will be accompanied by a sixty-four page fully illustrated catalogue with a text by Ayres' biographer Mel Gooding.
