Cristea Roberts Gallery is a leading international art gallery with a particular focus on original prints and works on paper. Since its inception, the gallery has commissioned a significant number of editions by a wide range of artists, whilst also representing others for their unique works. The underlying ethos of the gallery has always been artist-led. It was originally founded in 1995 as the Alan Cristea Gallery and changed its name in September 2019 to Cristea Roberts Gallery. Acknowledged as one of the leading galleries in its field of speciality, the gallery's programme is dedicated to publishing, cataloguing, exhibiting and dealing in original prints and drawings by its roster of over 30 important international artists and Estates.
It participates in all the major international art fairs and has a dynamic programme of exhibitions hosted in its bespoke space in Pall Mall, London. The gallery works closely with international museums on acquisitions and loans, and examples of its editions are held in major public collections around the world including Tate, London; Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; and Museum of Modern Art, New York.
Cristea Roberts Studio and Archive is an operational department dedicated to supporting the gallery programme and its speciality as one of the leading galleries of original prints and works on paper.
Established in 2014 and situated in south London, this private space is actively used for preparing and distributing artworks. The Studio’s multidisciplinary team includes a conservator who examines and develops strategies to ensure the long-term preservation of the editions and individual works on paper. The team also oversees the final stages of print production, updating the documentation archive, and the distribution of artworks globally.
At Cristea Roberts Gallery we are consistently monitoring and reviewing our operations to increase our sustainability practices, including policies for gallery operations, artwork shipment and business travel, with the aim of continually reducing our carbon use. We continue to assess, report and reduce our impact, setting targets in line with science.
Since 2020 Cristea Roberts Gallery has been a member of the Gallery Climate Coalition (GCC), an international community of arts organisations working to reduce the sector’s environmental impacts. The gallery is also a volunteer member of the GCC’s Registrar subcommittee, which seeks to review and reduce the impact of artwork shipment.
