Lisa Milroy
The exhibition will consist of drawings made over the past two years in England, America, Canada and Japan and monoprints made in Australia and England.
The meticulousness, the precision and the stillness of her paintings give way in these works on paper to unexpected spontaneity. In capturing the momentary expressions of friends and acquaintances, in conveying the hurly-burly of busy streets in New York and Tokyo, the artist demonstrated her remarkable skill as a draughtsperson.
The movement, the fluidity and the expressiveness of these works on paper have in turn influenced her recent paintings, some of which were recently shown in Paris, and many of which will appear in her forthcoming retrospective exhibition at the Tate Gallery in Liverpool.
The exhibition will be accompanied by a loose-leaf catalogue, which is available on request.
