The Alan Cristea Gallery is holding an exhibition of photographs and paintings by the Dutch artist Jan Dibbets.
Dibbets has been an enormously accomplished and influential artist throughout his career and photography lies at the very centre of his creative output. The gallery is celebrating his achievements in this field by bringing together four portfolios of photographs dating from 1971 to 1997, but all published within the past six years. The subjects of the four sets are windows, cupolas, water and leaves. These photographs will in turn be accompanied by studies and unique works in other media on the same themes. These include collage, drawing and painting.
Dibbet's work can be found in many major museum collections including the Tate Gallery, London, the Guggenheim in New York and the Stedelijk in Amsterdam. The exhibition will be accompanied by a fully illustrated catalogue.
