Masterpieces of Modern Printmaking
The Alan Cristea Gallery is holding a major exhibition showcasing the very best prints by sixteen leading artists of the twentieth century. The gallery will exhibit major examples of relief and intaglio printing, lithography and screenprinting by Albers, Braque, Delaunay, Dine, Dubuffet, Francis, Gabo, Hamilton, Hockney, Lichtenstein, Matisse, Miro, Motherwell, Paladino, Picasso, and Warhol.
The exhibition includes one of Picasso's most famous linocuts, Tete de Femme(Portrait de Jacqueline II) as well as Sam Francis's White Line, Josef Albers, Homage to the Square, Robert Motherwell's Bastos, David Hockney's classic homage to Picasso Artist and Model and Andy Warhol's iconic Electric Chair.
This will be also be one of the first opportunities to see Richard Hamilton's most recent print, Chiara and Chair, 2001, which pushes the boundaries of digital printmaking and has already attained classic status.
