Christiane Baumgartner
Large-scale woodcuts of landscapes and seascapes are paired with ethereal views of sunsets and horizons as well as previously unseen oil drawings.
Although these works may first appear as peaceful meditations on the natural world, they mark the tensions between nature and human conflict.

11 February - 30 March 2025
To celebrate the Print Center New York's 25th anniversary Christiane Baumgartner is presenting works in a new exhibition entitled Bikini.
Baumgartner associates Bikini with swim and surf - referencing the artist’s lifelong love of and interest in the Baltic Sea coast of Germany. Bikini, however, is also the name of the atoll, or chain of islands, used for a vast and devastating program of experimental atomic explosions by the U.S. begun in the 1940s.
