Idris Khan Over and Over
"Like most of his oeuvre, each work is an invitation to join the artist in looking through a window into different times and places, into personal memories, but also into ourselves. Idris Khan’s works are ‘tablets for contemplation’.” Hammad Nasar
Idris Khan is interested in acts of repetition and the significance of these processes when all meaning is stripped away. He adopts a multi-media approach, often using printmaking, sculpture and photography to experiment with composition and language.
This hard-back publication, the first dedicated to the artist’s editions explores in depth both the process of making his prints and wall mounted acrylic reliefs, and the sources of inspiration he draws upon from the colour palette of Claude Monet (1840 – 1926), to the music of Antonio Vivaldi (1678 – 1741) and the writings of philosopher Jiddu Krishnamurti (1895 - 1986). A newly commissioned text by writer and curator Hammad Nasar provides this insight also touching upon the personal influences and stories that impact Khan’s work.
