Christiane Baumgartner Wish you were here
Wish you were here, a title that derives from Baumgartner’s affection for the Baltic coast of Germany, presents a body of work by the artist concerned with the aesthetic and optical experience of light reflected across horizons.
Explore Baumgartner's first depictions of a sunrise, views of a setting sun, bright flashes of sunlight reflected on water, or breaking through clouds, as well as the largest and most ambitious work ever made by Baumgartner; sequential views of a cascading waterfall. An essay by art historian Gillian Forrester explores the sublime in Baumgartner's work, the artist's use of colour, musical influences and her 'reverse drawings'.
