Melodious Flower is a group of ten limited edition prints by British-Nigerian multi-disciplinary artist and designer, Yinka Ilori MBE, published by Cristea Roberts Gallery, to celebrate the launch of Ilori’s collaboration with The North Face, which launched on 5 September 2024.

Melodious Flower is available to buy individually or as a complete set of ten.

Each new print uses a combination of only three colours to depict a single flower. The motif of the flower is repeated in ten different bold colourways. A homage to Ilori’s upbringing in North London, Melodious Flower, seeks to spark joy and imbue positivity in the viewer.

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the prints will be donated to two London-based charities, Rosebowl Youth Centre and Awesome Adventure Play, both located close to where Ilori grew up and both focused on open access play and youth services.

Ilori’s exploration of this playful flower motif as an editioned form affords him the possibilities of repetition and endless variations of his subject. As a result, when the flowers are presented as a grid, a blossoming wall seen from a single vantage point appears and we are invited to slowly consider them one by one. Ilori’s bright jewels of colour invite us all to pause, explore and dream.

The artwork’s messages about confidence and optimism are echoed in Ilori’s North Face capsule collection. The artist’s new prints and collaboration call to action “the power of cherishing what we have and the collective strength of the community.” Ilori states further, “this shared energy shall carry you like a mellow chant.”

Rose Bowl

Rose Bowl is a purpose-built youth centre in the heart of Canonbury, North London, close to where Yinka Ilori grew up. The play and youth provision for children and young people was founded in 1978 and is rooted in its immediate community. Offering early intervention pathways for young people, all services are free of charge, including a garden, roof terrace, ball court, music studio, art space and fitted kitchen.

Awesome Adventure Play is a not-for-profit organisation in Islington, North London, which supports some of the borough’s most vulnerable families by providing free adventure playgrounds to young people.
