Jim Dine

Hand-Painted Monoprints

The Alan Cristea Gallery is holding an exhibition of fourteen new hand-painted unique monoprints by the leading American painter, sculptor and printmaker, Jim Dine. In this new series, Dine reinterprets several of the subjects which have preoccupied him over the years - including hearts, bathrobes, the Venus de Milo and, most recently, Pinocchio.

Dine has always been fascinated by the possibilities offered by combining several printmaking techniques within a single image and in these new works he uses woodcut and carborundum together with hand painting in acrylic, oil stick and charcoal. The result is a bold and powerful body of work.
